To provide defined support services to ex-Service and affiliate members of the Bairnsdale RSL their dependents and to the community including:
Military Compensation: advice, claim assistance, liaison
Service Pensions: advice, claims assistance, liaison
Care: hospital visits, funerals, information's facilities eg. Home care, crisis care, community services
Ex- Service: record access, medal entitlements
Cadet: Support: Army, RAAF Commemoration
Activities: ANZAC Day, Remembrance day etc
Appeals: ANZAC/Poppy Library/Research Service Pensions/Welfare
VVCS Eligibility at a Glance: The Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS) provides free and confidential, nation-wide counselling and support for war and service-related mental health conditions, such as post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, sleep disturbance and anger. Support is also available for relationship and family matters that can arise due to the unique nature of military service.
News Alert: From 1 July 2014, in addition to those already eligible for support, current and former serving ADF members who have border protection service, served in a disaster zone either in Australia or overseas, served as a submariner, were involved in a training accident resulting in serious accident or were medically discharged will be eligible for VVCS. Access to VVCS services will also available to partners and dependent children, up to the age of 26, of these newly eligible service men and women.
In addition, the partners, dependent children aged up to 26, and parents of members killed in service-related incidents will be eligible for VVCS support.
